B-day shawl

thanks to the newly created S&B group in my town for letting me know of this lovely gift-to-be for my mom's b-day!! it looks sooo pretty and easy. we'll see about that when i drop my stitches, so to speak, LOL.

isn't it pretty??? Vanessa Carter's LiveJournal page -where the pattern is housed and whose owner is the designer of this pattern- can be found here. It can also be found here on Ravelry.

sundaymarketshawl

I'll be making it with an inexpensive, but pretty yarn which I believe -or so I hope- 'mi mami' will like. I managed to find it at an extremely reasonable price at my local "shall-remain-nameless' store (I refuse to publicize them as I already give them my hard-earned money ever so reluctantly on site).

Whew, back to the yarn... Let's see if I can find a picture of it. Ok, it's called Bernat Black Lites in Crazy Baby color way. I really liked their Sunset much better, but there weren't enough skeins.

Here you can find Bernat Black Lites' color ways, should you want to see the rest of them. It's just such a shame it's acrylic!!!! :(

I'm excited to knit it for her, though still wishing it does knit quickly *blush*!

gratitude expressed

no doubt love, support and inspiration can come from the most unexpected people and places. i think that's my first grand gift from life this new year -the unexpected energy that inspires me into action.

i am beyond grateful for being amidst the people and the places [virtual or not] with whom or which I've had the great fortune of running into - i couldn't be who i am without them.

i.

self-sabotage

these, are her stories.......

it's just such a shame it's taken me sooo long to realize what a horrible energy center/home/environment i'd been laying on my husband and children -the people i most love and would never hurt are suffering the most... so i'm trying to make up for lost time.
thank you, dearest brother, for giving me the much needed and/or the accurate swift kick in the ass i needed. you can be soooo wise. i love you and the life you bring (happy pg to you both!)

happy week to you all!

Mommy Auctions!!

I've been meaning to tell you all about Mommy Auctions...

I joined back in August, and kinda ran out of time and forgot about it. Well, being back home has inspired all kinds of things, lol. Among them, to sell my wares and all the baby/kid related stuff we have accumulated these past 4 glorious years.

Samantha Stack is the owner of the site and a wonderful person to deal with!! She's been extremely generous with her time with me, as a regular user of the site. And most recently as the following:

I proudly announce that I've become a mod in their forum site, weee!!! It's a 'small' community and is getting nice & cozy among members. Don't be afraid to check it out! :) ***UPDATE: I am no longer a mod, as life got complicated. :)***

I had added a few days ago a banner of theirs to Stuff I Like. I found out today that I can give you an actual link to personally refer you!! Without further due, I present to you: Mommy Auctions! :)

and lest I forget, I just set this up! :)

Weeee! Mommy Auctions galore! To tell you the truth, I just like the fact that you can sell *anything* mom-related -even our very much beloved cloth diapers and such that the company that shall remain nameless, lol, no longer allows. Yay! :) AND you know that the people looking at your stuff are exactly the people who *will* buy it. That just made sense to me. It's like a happy little filter of buyers!

My very first chosen fellow Etsian!! :)

'Morning everyone! :)

Here is the opener for my featured-fellow-etsian-of-the-week! Her name is Brandy and she's the coolest mama!!!!

Enjoy and partake!!!

With love,

i just looove the internetS

I really ought to consider getting my GRE and applying for the Masters of Internet Technology at UGA. The more I play around with templates' code, and styles and such, the giddier I get.

With such baby steps of mine, I've managed to get the Etsy mini thing configured, weeeeeeeeee!!! I just like finding I can mess with the code given to do what I want. I can't imagine knowing what code to use for what already, imagine what fun!?!!!

In the spirit of sharing and promoting fellow etsians, I believe I'll do a 'featured etsy shop of the week' of random stuff i enjoyed looking. Look for the first installment, tomorrow, and every Thursday after that (if I manage to remember, hahahaaa)

Hope you like the new look! :)

People who can vote, please read!

Of my fave chain emails, lately...lol! Enjoy!

******************

To be a Republican you need to believe:

1. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

2. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's Daddy made war on him , a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a 'we can't find Bin Laden' diversion.

3. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Viet Nam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

4. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational drug corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

6. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

7. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

8. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

9. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health care to all Americans is socialism. HMO's and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

10. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

11. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which tens of thousands die is solid defense policy.

12. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

13. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

14. You support 'Executive Privilege' for every Republican ever born, who will be born or who might be born (in perpetuity.)

15. Support hunters who shoot their friends and blame them for wearing orange vests similar to those worn by the quail.

If you do or don't send this to at least 10 other people, we're likely to be stuck with more Republicans in '08.

Friends don't let friends vote Republican!

If there was ever a good one....

"...out of the mouth of babes:"
-"People thought that boys would not keep themselves clean if they weren't circumcised,"

-
a mother answered when her intact son asked why circumcisions were done.

- Her little 5 year old said,

"Well, thats dumb mom!! What are they gonna do? Cut their butts off too?!"

(Found at Mothers Against Circ)

NoCirc has it, that circumcision actually begun as a preventative measure to masturbation. From their site:

"...circumcision began during the 1800's to prevent masturbation, which was believed to cause disease."

BWAHAHAHAAAA - I mean, seriously, what the hell are we thinking in the year 2008???

Sorry, a tangent on an ultra-guilty pleasure of mine (and yes, dh's too - a la back-in-the-day-when-you-could- actually-pull-it-off-times, yk...? ): an all-nighter full of adhesion research alongside my beloved husband who's relentlessly working on syllabi and material needs for the brand-spanking new atelier in which he gets to teach for the first time, after months/years of planning and waiting for it, TODAY! yayyy!!! :P

All of my [apparently not-so-humble nor subtle on this post or as usual? :P] opinions aside, I find extremely important to arm ourselves with information (yes, on all sides! jeez) before we make such an unnecessary - at best- and brutally drastic -at worse?- decision as it is to circumcise. Check out, if you will, the two pages I linked if you haven't been there already. I'm hoping it might provoke a second thought, maybe even dissuade someone, but at the very least, I'd like to think I have facilitated a more informed decision, otherwise and ideally, on the matter.

Thanks for reading, whoever you are. :)
